AND...
California Healthy Workplace Advocates was founded in 2004 by Carrie Clark and Michelle Smith at the request of Dr. Gary Namie, founder of the Workplace Bullying Institute, during a presentation he gave on Workplace Bullying in Sacramento, CA. He asked that California form a grass roots movement to get a law passed to correct and prevent workplace bullying. Clark and Smith gathered members contact information and began conducting monthly meetings in Sacramento that year. They work closely with Drs. Gary and Ruth Namie and the Workplace Bullying Institute.
In 2006 they developed a website for others to find and join the group. The group continues to grow every month. There are Healthy Workplace Advocates all over the United States now. California is proud to be a leader in this movement and hope our State passes the Healthy Workplace Act SOON!
2017 is the eighth year California joins Drs. Namie and the other States nationally in declaring the third week in October as Freedom from Workplace Bullying Week. The Proclamations you see on this website go toward accomplishing the first part of our mission, to raise public awareness about this critical issue. By posting the Proclamations and giving the originals to legislators, our intention is to show legislators how many cities and counties in our State agree that workplace bullying is unacceptable.
Status blind workplace bullying should be against the law. Please Help us pass The Healthy Workplace Act so all workers, owners, directors, managers, & employees, can be protected by correcting and preventing workplace bullying. We need to protect future generations in the workforce, too!
